Frequently asked questions
How do I remove line breaks from text copied from a PDF?
Paste the text and tick Remove line breaks. Lines that were broken in the middle of sentences are joined back together. Leave Keep paragraphs ticked so the gaps between paragraphs stay.
What are hidden characters?
Text copied from websites, Word and PDFs often contains invisible characters such as zero-width spaces, soft hyphens and non-breaking spaces. They can break searches, word counts and form fields. Werdz removes them or turns them into normal spaces.
How do I remove formatting from text?
Text pasted into the box is always plain, so bold, colours and fonts are removed automatically. Tick Strip HTML tags as well if your text contains code like <p> or .
What are smart quotes?
Smart (curly) quotes look like “this” and ‘this’. Some websites, code editors and forms only accept straight quotes like "this", so Werdz can convert them. Long dashes (— and –) become a simple hyphen.
Does the text cleaner change my words?
No. It only changes spacing, line breaks and the characters you choose. Your words and punctuation stay the same.
Is my text private?
Yes. Everything happens in your browser and your text is never uploaded.
