Frequently asked questions
What is Markdown?
Markdown is a simple way to format text using ordinary characters: # for headings, **bold**, _italic_, - for lists and [text](link) for links. It’s used for README files on GitHub, documentation, notes apps and many blogs.
Which Markdown features are supported?
Standard Markdown plus the GitHub extras: tables, task lists (- [ ]), strikethrough (~~text~~), automatic links and fenced code blocks with syntax colouring for common languages such as JavaScript, Python, Bash, JSON and SQL.
How do I paste Markdown into Google Docs or Word?
Press Copy formatted, then paste into Google Docs, Word, Outlook or Gmail. Headings, bold, lists, links and tables keep their formatting.
How do I convert Markdown to HTML?
Write or paste your Markdown, then press Copy HTML. You get clean HTML that you can paste into a website, CMS or email template.
Does the word count include Markdown symbols?
No. Werdz counts the words in the formatted text, so symbols like #, ** and link addresses aren’t counted.
Is my writing saved?
Your text is saved in your own browser, so it’s still there if you close the tab. It’s never uploaded. Press Clear to remove it.
